While my official move-in date isnāt until July 15th, Iām getting a much-needed head start this weekendā¦thanks to the kindness of my forever friend and future roommate. By the way, please donāt expect too many warm and fuzzies about himā¦Mr. Sisterās a true bitch too. Must run in the familyā¦. š„øš¤£
āProject Golden Girlsā is well underwayā¦and ahead of schedule.
Is it time for cheesecake yet?!
So today, Iāll be stuffing boxes with things ready to go to make more space (and more sanity) to figure out what stays, what sells, and what finds a new home.
Moving is never just about packing boxes. Itās about decisionsāhundreds of them.
Do I really need five mixing bowls?
Why have I held onto this broken lamp for this long?
As I continue sorting through the physical remnants of past chapters, Iām also sorting through memories, habits, and old versions of myself that I may be ready to release.
Some things are easy to part withāclothes that no longer fit, gadgets gathering dust, dĆ©cor that made sense two apartments ago. Other things are harder: sentimental trinkets, gifts from people no longer with us, or even books I swore Iād read one day.
Thereās something deeply satisfying about reclaiming spaceānot just in a room, but in your life. Letting go of the excess. Selling what still has value. Donating what might be useful to someone else. And slowly, piece by piece, creating room for the next chapter.
The move is on. The purge is real. And while my back might be sore and my house currently looks like a tornado hit a thrift store, I can already feel the shiftānot just in location, but in energy.
Keep calm and move on!

I feel your pain. I have at least ten mixing bowls from combined homes.
I am experienced with sorting books as I have worked at our library processing donated books for our book sales for 18 years.
When sorting books, start with four boxes. Mark one KEEP, one TRASH, one DONATE and one ?
KEEP is any book that touches your heart, Don' t need a reason and you can dispose of it later.
TRASH is anything that is falling apart, smells, or you hate. It goes in your paper recycle bin.
DONATE is the bulk of your collection. Most will have an ISBN number on the back cover or on the second page after the title. You can google this number which should take you to the Amazon listing and you will discover that if you discard this book, you could always purchase another copy if you really wanted to. And you will see that it isn't worth very much. If this is the case, you can donate it to your local library, charity or Goodwill with a clear conscience.
If the value is more than $10, please consider donating it to your library if they have a Friends organization that sells books to raise money.
? are any books that don't have an ISBN number on them. If you feel it is worth something, you can google the title, author and publisher with year to see if it shows up, then follow the rules for DONATE. If not sure, keep them for another time.
When a box gets full, move it out of the room and replace the box. If you start reading a book, put it aside in your "books I want to read soon shelf." ( We usually don't, but nevermind.)
If you have a lot of books, try using "Bookscouter" https://bookscouter.com/ This app gives you the Amazon price and the book's rank. Any rank over 2 million is not going to sell at any price.
Good luck!
