We've been beating the planet up for so long; maybe it's trying to tell us something? I hope it's not "Fuck off and Die!". It might be wise to start paying serious attention!

Planet Earth is completely indifferent to the existence or extermination of humans. We live in the ecosystem that lives on its surface and must take responsibility for what we do in it. We must also take responsibility for what we do to other life forms here with us.

. Faced with that, each of us individually can think globally and act locally.

I've visited SoCal many, many times over the previous dozen plus years which many are driven road trips, I have had to drive through active wildfires between Texas and Cali to get to where I'm going and it's not a comfortable trip not knowing what's ahead. As for the constant wildfires in Cali, I can't help but to think people are deliberately setting those fires that cause so much death and destruction. I know the massive wildfire that wiped out Lahaina was set by homeless. It's every damn year in Cali and it's getting old. Still waiting on fire marshall to confirm if these fires were an act of arson or not as so many are. I still have memories of the Paradise fire which was blamed on utility equipment and even that one I have my doubts. To see so many long standing communities wiped out and decimated in a matter of hours is disheartening. Not many years ago we had wildfires popping around Palm Springs when suddenly one popped up down the street from my usual resort where I stay and that was unnerving. I just wish there were an easy answer to stopping all this madness. While I cannot afford to live in California, it is my most favorite place to visit besides the Rockie Mnts.

I think there are a lot of factors at play...both man made, Mother Nature made, and tech made. At least one of the fires was linked to a homeless man, but arsonists aren't just homeless. And also, I've witness power poles in all parts of the cities randomly "sparking" over the years. The infrastructure isn't maintained...and with the gale force winds that ripped through the other night, any spark would have set this dry timberbox aflames. Fingers crossed for continued calm winds, a light drizzle or fog too roll any--anything more would lead to mudslides--and for pyros to get arrested before they cause more harm. It's a sad, complicated situation from my pov.

These are not "acts of God" but acts of greedy, ignorant people who care more about profits than protecting our habitat. Long-lasting droughts, monster floods, etc. are directly linked to climate change driven by human activity, which exacerbates and accelerates the so-called greenhouse effect and global warming. Insurance companies are, in general, part of those greedy people who could care less about preserving the environment. Sadly, they're part of the chorus who chant "drill! drill! drill!"... Repugnant. Glad to hear you're safe, Clint!

Thanks, D.C. There are far too many who need to get drilled—and fucked—right out of existence imo. The finger-pointing is for later though. There’s too many going through too much, so I’ll step off my soapbox for a bit. Love and light…love and light.

As tedious as it usually is (I've tried), one thing everyone should do is read the fine print in their insurance contracts. If they can manage it, they should also have a good lawyer who specializes in insurance claims. I've mostly not done the first, could never afford the second, but it seems a good idea.

It’s definitely a good start. But check out the stories in the “For Your Consideration” section. Even giant companies like Samsung are having to fight tooth and nail to get insurance companies to abide by their own policies. The shit is bananas…B-A-N-A-N-A-S. Might need Missy Information to come back for a visit sooner than later. :-p
