Thanks for sharing Clint. Re: reducing your sodium (salt) intake, I recently wrote about a study that found that increasing your dietary potassium intake (e.g., eating more bananas and broccoli) can lower blood pressure, even if sodium intake is normal-to-high.

Why thank you, Paul! I’ve gotten some conflicting advice about potassium (and magnesium), so your article was very helpful. Just replenished my banana supply and I plan to be a regular monkey’s uncle very soon…with much lower blood pressure. And banana breath. :-p

For a few decades I have surmised that plentiful potassium intake could influence
toward a reduction in serum sodium, but my teachers never could actually bring
themselves to tell us that. If the "sodium - potassium pump" system in our cells must
work to maintain the proper concentrations, it just seemed logical that providing
more potassium could help; not to mention that the desire for salt flavor in food
would be satisfied by the potassium chloride.
