Once upon a time I worked in public broadcasting. Each (snail) mail delivery, we'd quickly scan correspondence for those those addressed in ALL CAPS, and frequently in colour too (red crayon being a fave tool du jour)...
These letter writers were deemed 'maddies' & were set aside for 'careful treatment'.

We smiled slyly on the inside ๐
For what it's worth, we were making radio programs on latest scientific matters, and it was mid-80s.
So Clint, take heart, 'they've' always been out there! ๐ฑ
Wow. I worked on some PBS productions in the early 90s and heard similar stories from the PR folks. Crayons? Wowโฆpeople have more time than sense. I think Iโve written one โletter to the editor,โ about 20/20 airing pieces about hatemonger Fred Phelps. They were critical, but I urged them to stop giving his fire and brimstone routine oxygen. And got a short but thoughtful reply back from a producer. They at least seemed to listen.
As for the โmaddies,โ I welcome them to stfu. And will help them if they canโt figure out how to scroll on. Stupid people. :-p
You have my sympathies...
