He referred to her as "that woman" and declared her to be self-aggrandizing and artificial. I never understood why until years later, but was pleasantly surprised by his prescience as I learned more. I also learned that he was more of a friend to me than I realized as a teen-ager, and I am grateful.
. He would be appalled and outraged by the depredations being perpetrated against our Federal structure, national reputation and, especially, Department of Defense by the current criminal occupant of the Federal Executive Mansion.
Sounds like an old-school Republican, which Iโve had the pleasure of knowing a few. Even when weโve disagreed on policy, weโve respected each other. And in my experience, true conservatives want nothing to do with this neo-conservative con that bigots and zealots used to take over the once-principled Republican Party.
As I hope Iโve made clear, I respect true conservatives. Itโs the neocons and their bullying bs that disgust me. We can disagree without being disagreeable. Also, we need a full spectrum of ideas to help us find common ground and common sense solutions. Cheers, Sam!

Absolutely! I was one, once, and am still a conservative who believes we need
incremental steady change toward new ideas.
