I used to include Offenbach's Barcarolle but gave it up after seeing a video of choirboys in Madrid singing about "a night of love"
Linda Ronstadt is one of my faves…I saw her in concert a couple of times as a youth and couldn’t believe how good she was live. Even better than the LPs. A rare talent! (Wish I knew more about opera…I’ve seen quite a few productions, but I struggle with lyrics in English, so I tend to focus on the visual. Alas, I greatly respect the talent and dedication that goes into opera. I’ve been lucky enough to visit friends backstage at LA Opera a few times. Good times!
Thanks Clint for giving me the idea to look into that folder. I ended up re-watching a clip that I've seen many times of a performance by Sondra Radvanovsky of Casta Diva at the Liceu in Barcelona. I'm even more convinced that it was staged for an audience of one, Montserrat Caballe. I sometimes get criticized for re-watching things that I've seen many times, but I often see different things in the save movie or clip.
Go, Steve! Anyone who criticizes how much (or little) I listen/watch something gets the boot from me. I have no patience for anyone policing me in any form or fashion. I just say, “NOPE.” :-p
