We’re only fifteen days in, but I think most will agree that 2025 is off to a rocky start. The forecast? Partly cloudy with a 100% chance of continued bullshit and nonsense.
Here in the US, Drumpf is set to waltz back into the White House in a few days, and the rest of the world feels like it’s teetering on the edge of a temper tantrum. Seems about right…orchestrated by a chorus of far-right asshats determined to claim they are the champions, my friends, in the name of greed, hate, and willful ignorance.
And yet… here I am. Queer as ever.
Determined, pissed off, and stubborn.
Refusing to let the worst of humanity win.
For the record, regardless of what upside-down reality tv would have you believe, folk with hearts and smarts will always be the champions…and always reign supreme.
I’ll admit, it’s hard not to feel overwhelmed.
Even for a Queen—and Queen fan—like me.
The “news” cycle is a relentless onslaught of despair, disasters, and doomscrolling.
But there’s one thing LGBTQ history has taught me: Radical Faeries always throw the best parties! Joy IS rebellion. Celebration IS resistance.
So today, I’m recommitting myself to celebrating the good stuff—the small victories, the sparks of kindness, and the silver linings. It’s time to honor and spotlight more art, more beauty, more light, and more love. Cuz…I have faith in these desolate times.
I’m choosing to stand up. Not just to defend and fight against the forces working against us, but to applaud and cheer for creativity, connection, and compassion.
I believe a better future is still possible—and ab-so-fucking-lute-ly worth fighting for.
Despite those trying to divide us—from the inside and out our community—please remember we’re all in this together, y’all. So do your best Madonna impression and keep, keep it together…forever and ever!
We’ve collectively survived so much already. But if you need some inspiration, join me in disco-dancing to Gloria Gaynor…cuz we WILL survive. As long as we keep showing up, keep making noise, and keep loving loudly and proudly, we will soon thrive again.
Because if there’s one thing we collectively know how to do, it’s throw a party—even when the world’s on fire.
So it’s time to get this 2025 party restarted.
Let’s show the mfers how we do it!
Ready or not, here/queer we come….

P.S. I made the video above last night, inspired by a light show I saw—many, many years ago—at a nightclub in San Juan, Puerto Rico. It was a magical night…one I’m celebrating almost 30 years later. Time to make more memories.
P.P.S. What was YOUR favorite year and why?
