Thanks, Keith. If you haven’t yet seen the doc, I highly recommend it. Gets better every time I see it, slowly understanding more and more about all the history they were living in the middle of. Cheers!
Written in a way capturing the sensitivity and admiration they had for each other through your own.
‘Visit to museum’ articles can be difficult to make compelling enough to want to have gone as well. You have done this here and more. You have revealed layers I would not have seen on my own. You also made it feel I had been there. Bravo!
I am appreciative of your biographical information on all sorts of people. In this case, I knew that Chris had a much younger lover, Don, who was an artist. Thank you.
I think that is right, Clint. When I was 31 a 19yrs old arts undergrad fell for me as his first boyfriend. It didn't work out as he wouldn't work on his art during the day when I was at work but he would paint when I went to bed and play loud music that kept me awake. We parted amicably. When I was 38 I had a multitalented 19 yr old business undergrad. Again it didn't last but he and his husband are loving friends of mine to this day. I think that I parented them well, as I have parented other younger gay and straight men. I guess that my strengths are in being romantic, loving, caring, teaching, guiding, healing. As I have said before, I am not very horny, though I enjoy sex. The younger men in my life have had high libidos.
Thank you for sharing, dear Ray. I’ve had a few similar relationships in my day. While none were “successful” in a traditional sense, I still look back fondly on most of my May-December flings. I still keep in touch with a few too, boo. :-*
As you quote the gallery's site, Hurd's artist statement has this unfortunate typo: "we will now cower," surely meant to be "not cower." Happy to help! Thank you for your daily calls to inspiration and embrace of our vibrant community. Look what we've accomplished throughout history! Is there an available catalogue for the Bachardy show?
Oh, wow...that Chris & Don trailer!!! 🥹 I'm so enjoying these history lessons, Clint...thank you. 🏳️🌈

Thank you, dear. Glad you enjoyed. It’s a special exhibition in my book. Made me cry a little. :-)
🥲
Always wanted to go to the Huntington, looks like a great exhibit!
If you’re ever in LA, please lemme know…more than happy to take you. Cheers!
God that would be fun!
Amen, Mister Sister!
Thanks for this post; I was totally unaware of Don Bachardy and his art. What a truly fascinating life he surely had!🌈
Thank you, Mike…I think of Mr. Barchardy as a gay “Zelig.” He’s always been in the midst of a zeitgeist.

Thank you, Ray…I suspect you and Mr. Barchardy would get along marvelously. Cheers

Thanks Clint, as always 🖤🤎❤🧡💛💚💙💜🐦🦝🐰☘
Thanks to you, Steve, as always! Cheers 🌈✌️
Thanks Clint, I LOVE everything having to do with ART!!!
Same, Larry…it’s a feature AND a bug. :-p

Thanks for catching the type, Fred. Corrected on my end.
As for a Barchardy catalogue, there’s one available on The Huntington’s site…and I think on Amazon too:

A wee bit of nonsense which turns things on it's head, just reminds me of something from the Roseanne Bar shows 😂 Cheers DougT 🇫🇴
What a funny scene…kids are gonna be alright! :-)
