MY only experience with this was when I was yelled at in front of fellow workers for emailing something that was a bit odd that my boss had done. I resigned a couple weeks later. It later turned out that my boss had been illegally approving agreements with a contractor, both of which were discovered a couple months after I left. He was 'transferred' to a different division, the contractor went out of business and the unit he directed was shut down.
Sadly, it sounds too familiar. I once resigned before I punched a boss in the face. He loved to yell at people in his office with the door closed. Mostly his female employees. He did other shit to annoy me, including embezzling from the company. And was setting me up to be fired, so I beat him to the chase. Some folks thought I was nuts--it was a good job--but I refuse to play games with assholes. And he definitely was one. As were those above him...who went down in flames when it was eventually revealed he was in fact stealing from the company. If only they had investigated instead of calling me a liar. Oh. Well. The whole division went out of business a few years later. Life went on. :-p
