I think that some people are born AI. Not long ago I was fooled by a narcissist who was only pretending to be a human being. Past the facade there was nothing: no heart. no soul, no conscience. All fake.
Whatever........ I used to really like the photos of beautiful places on the planet that appeared randomly when I opened my computer in the morning. Since AI entered the scene, NOTHING interests me because the thrill was that this place ACTUALLY exists on the actual earth and I could go BE there if I so desired (and could afford it). Now it could be something that exists only on this image - it is NOT REAL!! I have plenty of my own fantasies that I enjoy and memories of REAL places I've been. Looking at a construct is just..........stupid and unexciting. The fantasy of actual images is that I could actually BE there; I could actually stroke those abs, suck that dick or even that SOMEONE REAL had been there and did that. Now give me a Tom of Finland drawing - that's hot, that's honest, I could DO something like that. But an AI contrivance making it look like real people puts it out of my reach because it never was. Having said all that I just don't really know myself why it's so disturbing. At the very least AI should acknowledge that it IS AI. Don't fuck with my fantasies!!
Thank you. I'm sensitive on a good day and some folks over on YT the past few days have been truly unkind lately. So I'm extra bitchy and glitchy. A few of them are now blocked and reported. And for the record, I'm pretty vocal irl too. Cheers!
Anything in the wrong hands is bad. Thing is, "bad" is in our nature. So is "good". And we act accordingly. We created AI and we can make it whatever we want. Right now it's in its infancy, a perfect time to explore how we want it to evolve. I won't go into detail here, but I see it as a tool that could be very helpful. In terms of discerning what's real from what's fake, we've been facing that challenge since our inception as a species. How many of us still believe the universe revolves around us? Is it the billionaires among us "conspiring to control the planet" the reason behind so much apprehension about AI? Or is it something else? When tea arrived in England a few hundred years ago there were people saying it would be the ruin of civilization. One thing is certain: AI, like tea, is here to stay.
There is not enough real intelligence in the world, why are we creating artificial intelligence? The techno-fratboy oligarchs that have taken over the governance of America are proof of that.
No disagreements with your points here. Most of social media is owned and operated by two of the people least likely to have real friends or influence anyone if they didn't have billions.
“Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men, even when they exercise influence and not authority; still more when you superadd the tendency of the certainty of corruption by authority.”
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I too am concerned about how AI is distorting reality into something too many accept as real. Reality is interesting enough without someone creating a 'reality' that only exists in someone's mind, and that reality is not mine. Keeping everything clear is hard enough without spending time on someone else's idea of what is perfect or beautiful. AI is just another burden to dump in life.
It definitely adds to the complexity of things. But Pandora is out of her box, so I'm doing my best to find ways to make friends with her...on my terms. It can be a fun creative tool, but presenting its output as "real" really works my last good nerve. I've used it in a lot of my art and design, but it's just the start--or middle--of a process for me. Like all tools, AI can be dangerous in the wrong hands. But I do agree reality is interesting enough. If only we could all agree what reality is these days. lol
Oohhh Clint your opening Pandora's box again ggggrrrrr. Now AI CAN have it's place in modern society but it's what's done with it in the 'wrong hands' and illegally, that worries/scares me. Cheers DougT 🇫🇴
You know I agree. I don't mind it when it's labelled as such, but I'm finding--or suspecting--more and more "vintage" photos of being "fauxtos." History's always been a bit revisionist, but this shit is bananas...B-A-N-A-N-A-S! :-)

There do seem to be more “terminators” than there once were. Sadly. Sorry the fool fooled you. Seems like their loss though. :-*

Deep breaths, Dennis. We're on the same side. But please don't use all caps and "whatever" in the comments. Deal? Cool.
Sorry, I've always written like I speak. Vocal emphasis gets caps. I'll restrain.
