Is A Picture Still Worth A Thousand Words?
After being “fooled” one too many times by hyperrealistic AI-generated “fauxtos,” I’m extra cautious of—and extra curious about—the world of artificial intelligence and how it affects our ability to distinguish between fact, fantasy, and fiction.
Once upon a time, I considered the phrase "a picture is worth a thousand words" a common sense truth. But with AI-generated images now virtually indistinguishable from human-made works, two questions loom large…for me anyway:
Is a picture still worth a thousand words?
And why are billionaires pushing AI so hard?
AIN’T NOTHING LIKE THE REAL THING... MAYBE?
AI’s influence on modern art, photography, and popular culture is undeniable.
Deep-learning models are capable of producing images that rival anything created by human creativity. AI text-to-speech and video generators are also catching up quickly. Hollywood will never be the same. Not that it wasn’t time for a change….
With almost anyone able to generate a "masterpiece"—or a movie—using basic AI tools and a little creativity, does a picture still carry the weight of a thousand words?
BILLIONAIRES' POWER PLAYS
Behind the push for all things AI, tech giants and billionaires are funding the development of tools like ChatGPT, DALL-E, Grok, and so many more.
These companies, led by powerful oligarchs like Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg, are reshaping not only the creative industry…but the world.
With so much power in the hands of so few, I’m more than a little concerned about how much are their decisions shaping our world? And at what cost?
AI is quickly reshaping how I create and curate visual content, forcing me to rethink the value and meaning of creativity. In this new world, a picture may not be worth a thousand words—but perhaps it is worth a thousand questions.

Reality is interesting enough without someone creating a 'reality' that only exists in someone's mind, and that reality is not mine. Keeping everything clear is hard enough without spending time on someone else's idea of what is perfect or beautiful. AI is just another burden to dump in life.
