As for smoking, I too don’t like it but choose to show the photos because they were part of the history. And I do my best to pretend they’re just stage cigarettes…just there to create drama and atmosphere. Not the dangerous death sticks they were (and are). I loathe tobacco in all its forms.
Seeing someone smoke greatly reduces any romantic or sexual attraction/fantasy I might have. I can still love them, though. I often feel protective of them.
Mr. Kan's bizarre comment made me think he had had a cactus for breakfast.

One thing that makes me uncomfortable is seeing so many men in the vintage photos smoking cigarettes. I wonder how many lives were shortened by that.
