Thanks, Ray. The back is feeling MUCH better today. Took most of the day off yesterday to just relax and stretch. And nap. Because…Studio Saturday usually involves at least one nap. :-p
Thanks Clint. Dr. Steve of the Nip/Tuck school of medicine in the house. For a backache, you could use some wintergreen rubbing alcohol on a long narrow cloth. You can reapply as often as necessary. Keep using the same cloth.
Gatorade has zero calorie water, unflavored, alkaline, and electrolyte infused retail $2.49 for 700ml. I got it for free as a promotion and am not likely to pay what they're asking ever, but at least it's another step in a good direction.
Thanks, Steve. Never tried wintergreen rubbing alcohol, but I’ll keep it in mind. Not sure I’ve seen wintergreen rubbing alcohol in the drugstores. I’m sure it’s there, but I don’t shop for rubbing or drinking alcohol very often. :-p
As for Gatorade, I had more than my share of that stuff in the 90s. It’s a long story, but the smell of it makes me a little nauseous. I’ll still to water. It’s (mostly) free. :-)
I'm sorry to hear about your back mishap. The irony of what you were doing when it happened is not lost on me. Good work getting a standing desk and expanding your work area.
Thank you for the link to James Baldwin with Beauford Delaney in Speculative LIght. I love learning about these pioneers.
I was surprised to see that Matthew Modine was born in 1959. I worked on the film "Birdy" in '83 and Matthew looked so young compared to Nicolas Cage.
As always, thank you for the reminder that we do need to care for ourselves...getting our steps in even if some are steps back. Have a great workout when you get back to the gym.
Thank you, David. I’m feeling much better today. Though I’m giving myself another day before heading back to the gym. Baby steps are necessary some days.
As a former film/tv guy, I’m dying to hear any “war” stories you might have. I was primarily a costumer, though I worked in the art department and did some assistant directing too. When in working mostly in Texas, I wore LOTS of hats.
A newspaper article on Drag Queen Foo Foo Lamour to accompany a better post I put on, I just seem to have lost the original posting gggggrrrrrr Cheers Y'all DougT 🇫🇴
He (Foo Foo) was of the old school drag, none of this RuPaul crap. He never insulted his audiences, but took no crap either. A big part of his targeted audience were working class females out for a laugh or on hen does. His charity work was exceptional. Check your Google account for my original post.
Will do, Doug! I adore all kinds of drag queens and have had the pleasure of getting to know quite a few. I even went to the first RuPaul DragCon. It was fun but a little much to me. A few of the queens from the show are worth getting through all the reality tv drama. Latrice Royale is my personal fave! She’s a funny, formerly incarcerated queen…and this fabulous fat “lady” lives and loves large. XXL even. I adore her/him so.
Sorry about your back. As you say, it will improve shortly. I applaud your perspective on progress. Be loving towards yourself.

Love, love, love…I need to spotlight this legend. Thank you for sharing, Doug!
