Ain’t that the truth. Sadly, I’ve run into a few too many “creatives” lately who spend more time measuring the “success” of their work than making their work. A waste of time and energy in my book. The platforms want to gamify everything. I just want to art everything. :-)
I have been lucky that money has never motivated me (I have been down to my last 100 pounds/dollars - more than once - but something has happened before I've reached zero. The Universe is on my side). I have been horrified to note that many younger people ask if doing a law degree, a medical degree, a chemistry degree or any other occupation is "worth it". I know that they mean "money".
I have lived too many lifetimes and I believe that it is best to do whatever you love or like to do and then you will never "work" a day in your life.
The "me, me, me" tendency to see one's worth by how many Facebook likes you get is abhorent to me. Do things which make you happy and, hopefully, make other people happy, healthy, safe, growing.
I sense luck has been only a part of the secret to your success, dear one. Being present and ready to dig in (and dig deep as necessary) seems at least as important. But I’m open to learning more from your experiences…as always. Cheers, Ray!
