I lived in LA from 2005-2015 (Studio City & Glendale) and I really miss it sometimes. Janet Fitch once wrote: "Los Angeles in particular needs an introduction. It's a private city, complex, it doesn't roll itself out like a welcome mat, though it pretends it does. It's more like a complex person, full of contradictions, worthy of a long conversation." And I love that and think it's true. I hope you like living in Pasadena!

Two of my favorite neighborhoods! I’ve always been a Eastside Guy and Valley Girl. I currently live between Highland Park and South Pasadena. Lovely area…and so many great things to do and see. And eat. :-p

Thanks Clint, following Sheldon's path from Texas to Pasadena?

When you mention Lorenz Hart, lyricist, I say Pal Joey:

Men are not a new sensation; I've done pretty well, I think.

But this half-pint imitation Put me on the blink...

Couldn't sleep And wouldn't sleep Until I could sleep where I shouldn't sleep...

I'll sing to him –Each spring to him And worship the trousers that cling to him.

Horizontally speaking, He's at his very best...

Thank God I can be oversexed again...

He’s slept enough, And yet, where it counts, he’s adept enough.

Bewitched, bothered and bewildered am I.

The original Pal Joey was Gene Kelly

Your Pal Patti LuPone did a great version of this in 1997;s An Evening with Patti LuPone

I wish I knew all your references, Steve. If I hadn’t just taken my sleepy-time supplements, I would dig into them more. As for Sheldon, I still don’t know his story…was he from Texas? And moved to Pasadena? I didn’t approve that storyline. lol

Why thank you jparr! Time is crazy fast. Seeing some folks I haven’t seen in like 7 years (or more) tomorrow…and yet it all feels like yesterday. Cheers!

I was born in LA but haven't lived there since I was 7 - and God has it changed! Still - familiar territory, if I was ever forced to move back, would be like coming home.

You’re always welcome to visit, MTF. The City of Lost Angels will always welcome you…mostly indifference. But she does like playing hard to get. :-)

Clint definitely a city of contradictions and many changes since our arrivals about the same time you and silver Lake and I and El Segundo and the changes we have seen some good some not so good it's still a place I like to call home. Thank you for bringing back memories of when I relocated here

Yay, fellow Angeleno transplant. Haven't spent much time in El Segundo--we're so provincial here lol--but what little explorations I've made there have been fun. Cheers to SoCal and all its adjacent weirdness! ✌️🌈

Sound like Papa and Doug were/are both rolling stones. Switzerland, eh? Tell me more, tell me more. I’ve travelled a bit but somehow never gotten over to Europe. It both entices me and scares me. The motherland, ya know. :-) Cheers and virtual hugs, to you and your Ivory Tower. :-*
