More For You...Less For YouTube
Now Playing = Early Premieres + Exclusives On Substack
For those in need of some “good” news, here’s something I’d to share and spotlight: Yesterday I posted a new “early premiere” here on Substack. Hims + Thems #4, an SFW montage, is now available to all Substack subscribers and visitors…before it goes live on YouTube later today.
“Early premieres” are part of a plan to breathe some fresh life into my creative flow and, hopefully, kickstart my struggling YouTube channel again.
Since November, I’ve been making two videos a day on average.
One for YouTube. One for Substack. Not every day, but most days.
It might sound like a lot, but I love making them. Love, love, love.
The problem is that while my Substack continues growing—at a slow-but-steady rate—my YouTube channel’s growth has stalled and its revenue and traffic have flatlined.
Loyal fans, followers, and friends—you/they are the best!—are still showing up and watching. But new subscribers and viewers are few and far between. If something doesn’t change, the channel could easily slip into dreaded "dead channel" territory.
And I really, really don’t want that to happen. Despite my many issues with YouTube as a company and platform, I’m so proud of the channel’s success. For a small creator like myself, to get over 5M views and 14K subscribers in less than a year is amazing!
So, to shake things up, I’m slowing things down over on YouTube and shifting even more of my time and energy over to Substack. Why? Well, not only does SS give me fewer headaches, but it’s growing and is a lot more fun too.
So, I’m going to start releasing at least one video a day on Substack.
I plan to alternate between NSFW and SFW videos:
NSFW videos will be paywalled—a benefit to the paid subscribers and supporters who keep me and my work grooving and moving. Exclusively on Substack.
SFW videos will premiere on Substack—for both free and paid subscribers—a day before it goes live on YouTube. See them on Substack first…with exclusive bonus content.
From my POV, it’s a simple, win-win solution.
You get more exclusive content and early access, and I get to focus on the platform that makes creating and connecting with you such a joy.
If you like this new plan, let me know.
And, for the full Collide Press “experience,” please check out the full blog. Because not every post gets emailed. The site allows me the flexibility to post more without spamming anyone. Or trying not to.
As always, your encouragement and support are appreciated.
Thanks for reading and subscribing!
