Thanks, Doug. The winds remained calm overnight, so I think the firefighters might have made some progress. Only watching the evacuation maps today…just in case. Sadly, there’s rain forecast for the weekend, which could quickly lead to floods and mudslides in the burn areas. Fingers crossed there are no lightning strikes—rare here—and Mother Nature chills it with a skillet. Never thought about the bogs/moors burning. Yikes. Hope Mother Nature is treating you better too. Cheers!

You're a regular geographer and meteorologist, Doug! Thanks for the education. Sadly, I'm almost certain the guy is more than a suspect. Glad they caught him, but there are likely many others. With the whipping winds that happened...up to 100mph I hear days/nights ago...almost anything can set an entire neighborhood on fire. More winds expected next week. So everyone's recharging their batteries just in case there's another wave of this. My heart goes out to all who lost so much...and the exhausted firefighters and first responders who continue to get Mother Nature to take a chill pill. So much loss. So much to process.
