While the Collide Press YouTube channel technically “joined” in April 2023, it wasn’t until I posted my first montage of vintage photos—one year ago today—that it began getting any attention or subscribers.
So I consider today the channel’s “real” birthday…as does YouTube:
In case you missed it (or can’t/don’t remember), here’s the montage with its original music…before YouTube’s broken Content ID system forced me to change it.
I made “Love Is Love = The Gents” as a simple editing exercise, never imagining it would be the start of something bigger—something that would change both my personal and professional lives in ways big and small.
To date, the first montage has over 140K views.
For a small channel like mine, that a big “viral” success!
As of this morning, the channel’s videos have had 5.9M views, enjoyed 310.7K watch hours, and attracted 14.8K subscribers. If you’re reading this, chances are we “met” as a result of this one short video.
So Happy Birthday, YouTube Channel.
It’s a good time to CELEBRATE…COME ON!!!
As I’ve written about previously (and repeatedly), the past rollercoaster year has seen more than its fair share of ups, downs, and all-arounds.
Over the past twelve months, I have created hundreds of montages and curated thousands of vintage images. It’s become what I do on an almost daily basis.
Except for yesterday.
Yesterday I put my newfound plumbing education—from the University of YouTube—to the test. Long story short: My clogged kitchen sink is now unclogged, landlords are thrilled I saved them at least $100, and I have a renewed respect for plumbers.
I did such a good job the bathroom sink decided to start draining slowly too.
So after I finish a montage or two—one for Substack and one for YouTube, ya know—I’ll be taking care of that clogging drain too.
Fingers crossed. I only have my DIY in Plumbing after all.
Wishing you unclogged drains and sending you some virtual birthday cake!

What an achievement. I don't think that I viewed this Love is Love video untiol now but I have seen most - if not all of the images - in other videos. As you know, it is right up my street. I appreciate your hard work over this past year and issue my medals of approval and excellence.
Congratulations! You have become a daily activity viewing your site and I thank you for the time and effort it takes to generate the videos and collect all the other info you present. I and I am sure many others look forward to your postings during 2025.
