There are people with whom I am friendly. There is a hardful that I would dignify with the word "friend". The mother of my non-biological sons, those two sons, my ex-partner (his husband is loving and caring towards me but there isn't the meeting of minds and souls) are the closest but I do not see much of them and we rarely communicate (but when we do, when we are together -wow!). There are many people that love me and care about me and that caring love is returned by me, They do not know me on a deep soul level, though.
I may not know you on a deep soul level, Uncle Ray, but please know I consider you a friend indeed. And sometimes in need. Sending love, light, and laughter your way always. Cheers! 🌈✌️
We have two different definitions of the word "friend". Mine is very narrow and specific. I am very comfortable and supported by your consideration of me as a friend. So, thank you for your response. I am neither lonely nor without social interactions. But who I consider my friends are many thousands of miles away. Yes, I could video chat with them but we don't see the need. It happens that my older son, his wife and two sons will be visiting me in less than 4 weeks for 3 or 4 days before they go for a beach holiday in Thailand. I love all 4 but only my son is whom I would consider as a friend.
You are my friend, Brian, within your definition and you are mine in the same definition.
I realize I “friend” more freely than most. But it’s served me mostly well, so I’m gonna keep on keeping on. And those who aren’t forever friends still manage to touch my life in ways big and small. Cheers to you, Uncle Ray!
