A wonderful joint appreciation for you both. I can get overwhelmed by art in large galleries and have to take a break for coffee. Otherwise, I find myself zipping past and cursorily glancing after the first hour or so. Enjoy your visit, dear friend(s).

Thanks, Ray. Didn’t get to see the good doctor after all, but me and my friend had a good day despite the disappointment (and chilly—for LA—weather). Hope you had a great weekend!

Thanks, Clint. In Italian, pazzi means crazy, and was also the name of a pretty crazy Florentine family, Pozzi is a hole dug for a well or fountain. I had to examine the tassels on the ends of the red robe's belt more closely, just to be sure of what I was seeing.

Trekking down this painting is gonna make me pazzi. :-p But it’s worth it. Wish the Hammer staff had a clue where one of their best works is in the world. Grrrr.

Enjoyed the piece on Sargent and the mention of the Hammer. Now planning to go see while I'm in California for the next couple of months.

Just a head’s up…in case you don’t see my update: Dr. Pozzi wasn’t on view. Allegedly he’s still on loan to The Met. But I don’t think the folks who were helping me really (or cared) where he was. Seems they loan this work out A LOT. Hope to find/see it one of these days…. Cheers!

Awesome! I hope you enjoy. If you end up in Pasadena, I highly recommend the Norton Simon Museum as well. They're doing some construction there, but I hear the exhibition spaces are open and wonderful as always. Cheers

Thanks, Doug. I think it's been a popular (and sometimes scandalous) portrait since it was first shown...for a reason. But there are no rules about what you should/shouldn't like. Art is personal. And you obviously have great taste...cheers, Doug!
