🌈The Purpose of the Divide is to conquer, I think I may have figured out a hack for the content creators in Ireland. they are slammed with literally hours of ads on their videos but yesterday happened to wake up at 2:00 in the morning which was 8:00 in the morning in Ireland and was able to watch a video with maybe only 5 minutes worth of ads.🏳️🌈
That many ads?! Whyyyyyyyy? That’s insane. I know I have some say on how many run on my YT videos. But Google remains in control of most of the options. And takes 45% of the ad revenue. Seems “fair.” If you work for Google I guess. Cheers!
In Ireland it seems to apply even to people whose accounts are not monetized. Terri Conroy in Sligo was getting very long ads longer than her videos and she wasn't even monetized.
I receive your gratitude and you speak of luck. Then I read this and it strenghtens my connection to you.
We, both men and women, have been sold falsehoods; we have been scammed, brainwashed. There is no "THE WAY" to be a man or woman, in my opinion.
I have been a psychotherapist to all genders - yes, I see individual differences and similarities but 90 odd percent is more or less the same. Yet again, I see people as wounded children, who need to be reparented, reconnected to reality. I have been prepared to be a parental figure, a teacher, for them. But, also to re-parent myself, to teach my Inner Child(ren) more of the truth.
Thankfully, for me, I stopped looking for "boyfriends", "sex partners" 30-odd years ago.
I was sitting in a Subway, about 20 years ago, here in Thailand. I saw a man sitting a table away. For once, I will use the term "African American". People in Thailand are not comfortable with "black" people; they don't see many.
The man sighed heavily then self-consciously brushed a few tears away. I asked if I could join him; he only nodded. I moved my food to his table, sat and reached across to hold his hand in both of mine. He began to sob and fully weep. I held him in my arms, in public, without embarrassment for either of us. I often ignore social "rules".
No, he wasn't gay. No we didn't become friends. We didn't stay in touch.
Back in the UK, I often stopped to give lifts to hitch-hikers. We would have conversations. At the end of their journeys, some would offer me a small amount of money for petrol/gas. I would refuse but would hold their hand silently, for a moment or two, and smile. Usually, they would squeeze my hand and say their thanks. Sometimes, younger men and women, would spontaneously kiss my cheek before getting out of my car.
So beautiful, Uncle Ray. Affection and vulnerability always get me. They’ve also helped heal me. Giving and receiving. It’s the least and most we have to share. So why don’t more dare? I think I know, but don’t care. I do it as often as the opportunity arises. Much like youse.
I will feel that daring is difficult. Sometimes, I chicken out and decide not to get involved. "Love is letting go of fear". "Feel the fear and do things anyway."
I also trust my gut about whether I respond to perceived need or whether it is not going to be appreciated.
Another example, I was onc e buying myself an icecream in Bangkok on a very hot day. A small child was asking for icecream but his mother said that she didn't have enough money. I asked if she couldn't afford icecream. She said that she didn't have the money, so I asked if I could buy them both icecream. So, I did.
I know the feeling re:scanning online cruise sites' profiles. If I'm not assaulted by a blizzard of incomprehensible acronyms, and the profile attempts instead to be coherent, it seems absolutely *everyone* loves long walks, the gym, and travel. Rarely do I get a sense of who this person is and/or what they're looking for - especially when they think they're being witty by answering 'What I'm Looking For' with 'stuff', and 'What I Do' with 'work hard, play hard' ... it's like, guys, try to be charming or at least interesting.
Though now I'm noticing folks are starting to say ... nothing. Like, just a photo (50% of the time not even of a face) with every section that might give them a chance to stand out as an individual (or at least let you know if they're sexually compatible) empty. I may be a shameless huss- errr, Man Of Many Types, but I like to know a *little* bit about this face or torso staring out from my phone screen.
But then, considering the rare few who bother messaging me these days, it's becoming apparent that no matter how hard I try to describe myself as concisely (but intriguingly) as possible, even if one *does* fill in their profile with an individualised, honest, non-botlike description, no one reads it anyway. I feel like I'm standing alone in a shadowy corner of gay bar, ignored ... like back in the good old days ...
The apps are…interesting. And probably not that different, as you pointed out, the nightlife scene. Those with no profiles and the random-ass religious rants are the bane of my existence. I just block them so I don’t have to deal with their fuckery. As for being ignored, I forget who said it, but I concur: “I’ve been ignored by better.” Just when you think you graduated high school (36 years for me), there’s a new batch of mean (and annoying) girls trying to recreate the sin-sation. Just say no, I gave at the office. Cheers, my dears!
What a cool history video. Might need to figure out how to do my own version. But first…more independent research. Thanks for sharing and caring, Dear Doug! Cheers…. 🌈✌️
Oh Clint I feel one of my infamous quotes/lines coming on......If it happens, it will, if it doesn't.....never mind. I play out my life without drama to myself or others. I'm loyal to all who matter and like it when loyalty is returned. TBH I've had the big loves of my life but as is my wants I never realised it at the time. The Ivory Tower protects me. Perhaps the words of The Rose 🌹 needs to be absorbed into a pill 💊 but that's just me being soft 😕 Cheers DougT 🏴🇬🇧
Lovely, and well expressed. As one of my favorite bloggers besides you says, "we have to get along in meatworld..." meaning, not in the imaginary made-up world our computers and the news deliver to us. And we're happier for it. Even if you grant primacy to spiritual concerns, they work themselves out here, in ..."meatworld." Organizing our desks, acting on intentions whether big or small, having a cuppa with friends. Having friends. Even having enemies. It's all part of the rich panoply of events we call living, and we live best with the concepts you've expressed here. Carry on, amigo. Carry on.
Thank you, Clarke. Carry on I will. “Meatworld” is a fun word. I may have to adopt it. When you get a chance, please share your blogger friend’s link. I would like to sample their work. Cheers!
I *think* 'meatworld' was coined by Allen Ginsberg - or at least he was using it back in 1987 or so when I first met him (and he tried to pick my date and I up with the subtle line 'take me home and fuck me!' - not to boast; he pretty much tried to pick up any male within speaking distance of him). Of course, Ginsy could easily have nabbed it from elsewhere; and I too nabbed it from him and use it often to describe the outside world into which I rarely go, now-agoraphobe wot I am. Whoever first invented it, 'meatworld' is indeed a handy word and should be part of everyday speech.
Love everything about this, Yuri. Save the agoraphobe part. If yours is anything like mine was, ugh. Sending hugs and best wishes. (As for Mr. Ginsberg, I never had the pleasure. But my brief interactions with his Foundation were immensely positive. I wish all estates and foundations were so helpful and nice!) Cheers…

Speaking of sides, you forgot one of the biggies: Top or Bottom 😆
As a side, I mostly ignore those. I serve my sides as the appetizer, main, and dessert. 😂😎

Simple generosity. Simple kindness. I bet she and her son paid it forward when and how they could. The butterfly effect in full effect….
That's the general idea. Large grin.
No big deal for me but a significant gesture for them.
