Isn't it interesting and maybe a little surprising that, when the time is right, a simple suggestion falls into place? "I knew it already but ignored it." A journey of a thousand steps begins with only one step.

Well done, dear! Baby steps or leaps forward, it's all about moving forward.

Thank you, Uncle Rayโ€ฆitโ€™s very interesting (and also a little annoying) how stubborn I can be. Selective hearing is one of my superpowers. lol Cheers!

Autistic folks (of which I'm sure I'm one) reportedly do well when their significant others help them name the smallest first step for a process or a goal to help them get started. Lacking a significant other, I have to do that for myself. I manage to do that about every other day. Helps if I took some pain meds.

Moving at all is its own special kind of challenge, going places, doing errands, seeing people, calling them, etc. For instance, I always prefer to type something rather than get on the phone and talk to whoever I ought to communicate with. And so on. Seems to me you got the right therapist, or so I hope. Keep on keepin' on, amigo.

Thatโ€™s very interesting, thank you for sharing.

One of my dearest friends (and former partners) is on the spectrum and I would say heโ€™s of a similar disposition. So am I sometimes. I consider myself, without testing, to be a wee bit neuro-spicy too. Cheers, Clarke!

Thanks, Larry. โ€œOn occasionsโ€ huh? I can certainly relate!

Clint, Your humor always shines through: "Iโ€™m realizing there are two kinds of breaking down." I also like: I also think it is important to know that: "What Iโ€™m learning is that big accomplishments are usually just small accomplishments stacked on top of each other."

I am pretty good at accomplishing things (should be after 81 years!) but often when there are things I do not enjoy doing or that I find boring, it is easier to postpone or to not do them! Then sometimes I make it worse by telling myself, "I am 81 years old and I do not have to do what I don't want to do!" But that doesn't work too well when the things that do not get done NEED to get done or they just pile up and become more intimidating!

Hopefully your therapists words will stick (funny how sometimes the same advice is meaninful and sticks and then sometimes it isn't. Not to be negative, but you will probably forget these words of wisdom and revert back to previous bahaviors. WE ALL DO IT! So my advice is make a sign that will remind you in case you forget!

"Here's to many more small accomplishemnts to be stacked up!"

Fondly, Michael

Thanks, Michael. Glad you got some giggles out of my smartassness.

I will most definitely โ€œforgetโ€ my therapistโ€™s recommendation. Sooner or later, my stubborn brain will revert and Iโ€™ll have to relearn it. But for now, itโ€™s working and Iโ€™m happy to print out a reminder to put around the house. :-p Cheers, my dears!
