Wow... Thank you for your endurance and forging through! Our entire bodily health begins in the mouth! I have been so blessed with exceptional dental care for 60 years!
Oral health is paramount, so good job Clinton!
Again, Fran has the most amazing doctors, dentists, innovative and knowledgeable guest speakers at her CancerSchmancer Foundation Health Summits!
hehe I totally get the "Doctors? No thank you!" thing! I have a phobia of needles, so bloodwork, dental work and all that is a HIGHLY FRAUGHT AFFAIR. You're on the right track, buddy. AND thanks for the link to my unboxing vid!!! xo
While I don’t have a phobia, I definitely have lots of anxiety around most things medical. You should see my arm after a few hours in the ER. Black and blue are lovely colors for shirts, but bruised skin is not my thing. I have the most roll-prone veins in the history of the world. So I can’t really blame the phlebotomist. But I will anyway… lol
Clint, you're not stupid but you're acting stupid. You should go to the dentist twice a year for a cleaning. I know how you feel about the staff of healthcare providers. I have stopped going to two healthcare providers because of their rude staffs. They charge too much to be disrespectful to their patients.
Hi, Jerry. “Judge not lest ye be judged.” Just saying…judging my actions is stupid. Especially via blog posts. No one but me knows a.l the details, so please check yourself.
Thanks Clint, for taking care of yourself. For your blood pressure, I suggest taking an 81 mg mini aspirin every day.
Breckin Meyer is interesting. I've seen him kiss at least 3 male co-stars, Ryan Philippe in 54, Bryan Callen in Inside Schwartz, and Mark-Paul Gosselaar in Franklin and Bash.
Thanks for the recommendation, Steve. I definitely need to add it to my regime. I’ve spent most of life rebelling again regimes and here I am trying to put one to good use in my personal life. What a world we live in! :-p
As for Breckin, I’ve always thought he was adorable. That smile and goofy personality catches my eye every time.
Glad to read that you are seeing the dentist and having your blood pressure checked, and yes it can be an interesting journey going to the doctor's office. I am seeing currently five doctors for a range of issues (cancer, sleep disorder, eyes, general, heart) and sometimes other specialists as needed. It can be a bit like walking into a fun house when responding when asked for detailed data about my health issues or insurance, but I am so used to this that I just expect delays and plan accordingly. Health issues are things I do not mess with at my age, so I handle them as fast as reasonable to see someone about them. Also, my late wife was an RN who spent decades working with patients in hospitals, and her stories about those who ignored their situations and then died or were disabled because of delays made a lasting impression on me.
My recommendation: just relax and accept it will be an interesting trip every time you visit the doctor's office. Best wishes for good health and a great day! - Al
Thanks, Allen. I was prepared for the worst today and while it definitely had some twists and turns—I’ll update tomorrow—everyone I encountered was friendly and professional. And I feel better knowing I’ve got some caring folks looking out for my best interests in the medical realm. Wishing you good health, kind sir!
How great that you're continuing your self-care journey, Clint.
Back on rainbow icon patrol: seeing one next to Gary Cooper's name seems amiss. Just thinking of him and Patricia Neal in her early prime around the time of The Fountainhead adaptation.
Thanks, Fred. I’m doing my best to follow doctors’ orders. Doesn’t come naturally, but it’s about time I listened to someone. lol
As for Mr. Cooper, I’ve checked a bunch of sources and feel confident he had at least one significant same-sex relationship. Rumors about many other abound. So he gets the rainbow icon.
Oooh Clint I feel your situation. Dental issues are not fully covered by our excellent NHS (also optical and podiatry) it was a compromise in 1948 when the NHS was started. A basic NHS service is provided and you have to pay part of the cost yourself, the same with optical and podiatry service. If you need a course of Dental treatment it's just one charge no matter how many visits it takes. Of course if you have private health/dental insurance then the service is better(?) However I would prefer our 'socialist' style of health care. My tax contribution pays for everyone as does everyone's else provides my health care. Easy to understand in an intelligent world. (It's one of my soap boxes 🧐) I don't have a Hollywood smile but I'm at the dentist every 3 mths for hygienist and 6 mths for check ups. My gums are shot due to constant issues but I take care of what's left of my smile 😁 Cheers DougT 🇫🇴
Thanks, as always, for my ongoing education about how healthcare works in the UK. Seems similar—in a way—to how we separate medical, optical, and dental here. I have three separate policies. Dental and optical are relatively inexpensive, though the coverage is usually pretty limited (and more like a reduced-price plan). My dental work—once I get cleared to start—is needed, but so pricey. Even with the insurance discount. Oh well, it must done. Ain’t no turning back now! Cheers
I always have anxiety going to the dentist. I take a Xanax AND they give me gas - even for a teeth cleaning! I've been going there regularly for about 20 years now. They have an incredibly nice staff and I love the bedside manner of my dentist (he's also not bad on the eyes!) They've not taken my blood pressure yet but perhaps that is coming. As much as I don't look forward to going, I know that consistency is the key. When I was younger I'd wait YEARS to even get a teeth cleaning and ended up with multiple cavities and a couple root canals. Those rarely happen now. So, keep going!
Anxiety is definitely a component of my high blood pressure. I do wish I could find a dentist that uses gas, but it's not so common here from what I hear. Glad I'm getting back on track of regular cleanings and exams. Thanks for sharing your story, Dan!

Much appreciated, David. I’m gonna (finally) start following doctor’s orders. :-) Cheers to you!
It’s good to be a proactive patient when it comes to your medical care! Don’t let them give you any crap about it!
Me take crap? It’s against my nature…and genetics. I’m ridiculously stubborn and opinionated when necessary. :-p
