Now art of a different kind I can totally relate to, a very well known drinking establishment in Liverpool. It's listed status ensures no one can fuck about with it. Plus it's slap bang between the 2 Liverpool Cathedrals and facing the Phylomonic Hall a world class phylomonic orchestra. I spent many a pleasant time quaffing a few beers in and around there when I lived in Liverpool. Cheers DougT
Errrr Clint, both are a tad too high brow (or is it the ones that put them on that high pedestal) for me to warm to, I know I'm a philistine but I can't help it. Cheers DougT 🏴🇬🇧
I don’t subscribe to the high- and low-brow debate. I like what and who I like. You’re welcome to do the same. We all resonate with what and who we resonate with. Methinks you would appreciate Mr. McQueen more than Mr. Nureyev. But that’s just a guess. I heard both could be quite feral philistines! :-p
One of my social (and gay) friends acted as an occasional dresser for the Royal Ballet when it was on tour, in our city. He had been dressing lesser male dancers of the company, not the man himself. He invited me backstage and he wanted us to give our respects and congratulations to Nureyev.
I was less keen because the man would be tired. Anyway, I "met" the man briefly and he was indeed drained, distant and dismissive. Two or three seconds - no more. A very impressive dancer, though.
Yeah, dressing room meetings are always….weird. Having worked backstage on shows, I only agree to go if I’m working. Then I don’t take the exhaustion and disinterest personally. Performers of all stripes deserve a break after they work.

What a beautiful pub. I’d get pissed just to go take a piss with a men’s room like that. Can you imagine all the tea that’s been served there? lol
👍👍

However this took my interest, is it art? Cheers DougT
That’s cool! I consider it the best kind of art: kinetic! :-)

Yup Clint you know me of old and my mantra of I know what I like and like what I know. 👍

Exactly. My friend was overawed and excited. I was impressed by the talent but understanding. I was not important, just a stranger.
I was awestruck when I first laid eyes on Rudolf Nureyev, when I was much younger.
Happy Birthday Rudolf Nureyev et al.
He was quite a specimen and whatta man, Larry. Cheers!
