I remember a few years of weirdness around blood donations (and I believe “active” gay/bi guys are still discouraged from donating), but can’t recall anything involving hearings. We Americans have fairly short attention spans, so like most bs, it was mostly forgotten and the mistakes were left to be repeated. :-/

You said it all 'mistakes were/are left to be repeated. The biggest blood products disaster was the US plasma treatment for Haemophilia. The hearings are still taking place now. Cheers DougT 🇫🇴
