I am anti-authoritarian and left-wing philosophically. I was also naif and hoped that social media would be a boon to global communication. Most platforms, including YT, seem to be aimed at making money for themselves and their advertisers. I still visit YT to watch shows and documentaries though probably I should use authorised world-access connections.
I both sympathise and empathise with your YT problems. However, I am not in the game of earning money. I use Substack because I don't want my stories to die with me. I hope that some people may like them but I have no interest in getting payment from readers.
Clint, I love you and other creators on Substack. I wish you strength, courage, happiness and success - including financial security.
My dear, Ray…I’m so glad our paths have crossed. You’re truly one of my favorite “stranger on the internet.” Though I hope we can at least virtually meet face to face one day soon. If you’re open to it. Your pov and support means the world to me. I consider myself a lucky man to have such good people as yourself cheering me on. Thank you.
I think compatible timing may be the main challenge for a video chat, though you seem to have a very wide waking window - like so many of my artist friends who kept vampiric hours, working in the dark and sleeping during the day. At the moment I live 7 hours ahead of GMT.
Thank you so much for everything you've already provided, Clint. Having left YouTube after so long that you could see all the most recent uploads in the beginning, I completely understand. I've been telling people that you need millions of views to make money. This is way more problematic now because the ads are way beyond as disgusting as they were even last year.
Example 1 Milos Rossi, miniminuteman came over from TikTok with millions of followers and started making money as his full-time job on YT. Now he realizes that he has to continue with what his viewers want rather than what he wants, to make money. BTW, check out the thumbnail on his "Vampire Graves of Europe" I think you'll like him.
Example 2 Jared Rydelek, YT channel Weird Explorer. Jared decided to do a series of videos in Iceland, and although the first one did well, each succeeding one did worse, until he realized that he couldn't continue posting them, because it would decrease his income, which he relies on to travel to exotic places.
I now watch one person in Ireland on YT from a local library, just to see if she's okay. The library is now blocking all the ads, many of which are NSFW, and otherwise problematic.
BTW, my bank sided with me against Google, concluding that they had committed FRAUD.
Since I was going to say Surprise, Surprise here, I'll mention the move of that name, from 2010:
A closeted TV star and his recently disabled, much younger lover find the older man has a troubled, streetwise, 15-year-old homophobic son he never knew existed to add to their already strained household.
The disabled lover was played by John Brotherton. I fell in love with him on OLTL. He happened to be there when Ron Carlivati and Frank Valentini came on to run things, producing a very gay friendly show for years. I watched every episode 3-5 times.
Thanks, Steve. Lots of people to check out…I feel like I still live in a cave some days. So many men…so little time. And even less time for YouTube’s bullshit. :-p
It's a dang shame. I've heard this sort of thing from other creators on that channel, although not as intense. They are trying their doggonedest to move to Rumble, not an option for what you are doing. I feel that the new Puritanism is afoot, and in a big way.
Thanks, Clarke. I definitely don’t feel alone in my disdain for much of what YouTube does. They’ve become too big and are trying to become bigger. My guess is they’ll ultimately lose many of the creators people tune in for. Because they don’t play fair and the platform doesn’t seem to care. Creators are expendable to them…they’ll just promote someone else. And the video game will keep on keeping on. Ugh. I prefer Substack anyway. More my speed. I’ve debated starting an OnlyFans to bypass more of the censorship, but I don’t want to focus on just nudity or erotica. So Substack is my creative home base. Thank you for being a friend and patron. Cheers, Clarke!
Thanks for the vote of support, Fred. I won't be fucking any of these basic bitches. But I might fighting with a few of them soon. Oh well. I will vigorously defend my rights to do what I do...and I pity the fool(s) they try to stand in my way. Cheers!
