Hopefully, someone besides me find the trials and tribulations of a YouNoober at least mildly interesting. I document this as both a reminder of my own journey and as a record of one LGBTQ creator’s experience on the world’s biggest video platform.
CIRCLE JERKS = CORPORATE SPEAK
After a series of increasingly frustrating emails with “Emily,” the manager assigned to my complaints about YouTube’s ridiculously subjective policies, I’ve concluded my initial theory is unwritten corporate policy:
BOOBS IN BRAS AND CORSETS ARE COOL.
BULGES IN SWIMSUITS AND UNDERWEAR ARE NOT.
Fine, YouTube. I’ll continue to protest.
I’ll also be doing more “creative cropping.”
There’s more than one way to make a montage. Next.
SILVER LININGS
Even though I’m still pissed to the highest of pisstivity about these double standards (and refuse to report others for violating rules I think are juvenile and puritanical), I try to look on the bright side:
WHILE I LOST OUT ON REVENUE FOR A WEEK, I MADE A NEW CHANNEL.
THAT NEW CHANNEL WILL BE FULLY MONETIZED SOON!
WORKING WITHIN THE RULES, I’VE FOUND WAYS TO DO THINGS BETTER.
While Second/Too Channel is fairly quiet (until full monetization kicks in), the Main Channel is doing great. Wednesday was our biggest day so far and the latest videos are receiving (mostly) nice comments. So happy my labor of love is being enjoed by so many people are the world.
KEYBOARD CRITICS + CRUSADERS
Like most YouTube channels, ours receives its fair share of keyboard warriors. And other nutjobs. As someone who’s never left a negative comment on anything I didn’t pay for, I find this kind of behavior annoying and unnecessary.
Around 6am my time, a stranger on the internet thought it wise to protest my lack of diversity in a Live Premiere chat. Of a video he hadn’t seen but that has one of the most diverse collections of male photos I’ve ever curated.
Hope criticizing other’s work and lobbing labels makes Felix feel better about himself. Not. Zuck, Felix. He’ll never have to see my work again.
Had another guy mansplain to me how I didn’t know what a photo was about…even though I linked to a full story about its history in the description. Zucking know-it-alls.
And let’s not even go into the number of “he wasn’t gay” I deleted about the video I posted yesterday on Thomas Eakins. Most art historians I’ve read classify him as gay or bisexual and he’s got a lot of homoerotic work. So take it up with the historians, asshats. Oh, and they’ve all definitely been blocked.
On this uptick in the less-positive comments, here’s a screenshot (probably with lots of typos) of what I posted on YouTube in the middle of the night:
So I might end up “pausing” comments on Videos if this xit continues. Because my bitchy-itchy-twitchy block finger is starting to get tired.
That’s the latest trials and tribulations of this YouNoober.
Thanks for reading!
Clint
P.S. Can we bring back public pie-throwing at asshats and clowns? It certainly seemed to shut Anita Bryant up back in 1977. Also, karma’s a bitch: Bryant’s grand-daughter is a lesbian and married a woman. Hope they served fruit pie instead of cake.

Love, love your channel. Keep up the wonderful, beautiful, life affirming work.
It's wild that they say "sexual preference" in their email, too. Like it's 1991.
