Fourteen years before Judy Garland and friends made the version most of us know, Larry Semon adapted, directed, and starred in Hollywood’s first (completed) adaptation of L. Frank Baum’s classic novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, first published in 1900.
NOTE: Frederick Kovert not only co-starred in this film (as the “Phantom of the Basket”) but also was the film’s uncredited costume designer. A few years before founding Kovert Of Hollywood.
