Welcome you to Pioneers + Pride, a section of Collide Press dedicated to celebrating LGBTQ heroes and history.
❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
We’re queer. We’re here.
And we’ve been making history, dear.
Let’s break down what P+P is all about in classic 5 Ws and 1 H style:
WHAT IS PIONEERS + PRIDE?
Pioneers + Pride spotlights LGBTQ individuals—regardless of gender or sexuality—who’ve contributed—for better and worse—to human history.
The goal is to inspire more appreciation and awareness of queer history.
WHO’S BEHIND PIONEERS + PRIDE?
I’m Clint Collide, creator and curator of Collide Press. Pioneers + Pride is my way of honoring some of the LGBTQ historical heroes, icons, and legends who’ve shaped our past and encouraging others to learn more about them.
I’m here—and queer—to celebrate our community’s history and promote a deeper understanding of the pioneers who paved the way for all of us. While I’m no expert and errors and omissions will happen, I will always do my best to provide the best information and resources possible.
WHY PIONEERS + PRIDE?
Queer history deserves to be celebrated—not debated. I wanted to create an online space that encourages independent research and study.
By sharing some of the stories of both famous and forgotten LGBTQ individuals, I hope to inspire you to dig deeper and learn more.
We’ve come so far and owe so much to those who came before us, even when we don’t have all the answers or know the full story.
Please note: LGBTQ history, like all history, is filled with a lot of speculation, missing documentation, and unsubstantiated sources. So put on your critical thinking cap.
Oh, and don’t be surprised if you fall down a rabbit hole or two in the process.
WHERE WILL PIONEERS + PRIDE TAKE YOU?
QP will introduce you to queer icons—past and present—who have impacted art, culture, politics, and society. It’s meant to be a self-paced stroll through LGBTQ history, learning about those who’ve helped shape the world.
And it’s not just about the past; it also includes modern-day figures who help us appreciate how far we’ve come and are making history themselves.
WHEN CAN YOU EXPLORE PIONEERS + PRIDE?
You are welcome to explore anytime, and I plan for the section to grow over time as I uncover more stories. Each post is an invitation to learn, reflect, and discover more about the rich tapestry of LGBTQ history.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
Sharing these stories and supporting the ongoing effort to bring queer history to light helps keeps our collective history alive and well.
If you would like to recommend any LGBTQ heroes or history that inspire you, please feel to reach out and share them:
The more we uncover, the more we contribute to our collective story.
History is built on the discoveries of those who care enough to dig for the truth.
Thanks for sharing and subscribing!
