Over the weekend, I did something I hadn’t done in well over a year—I took Saturday AND Sunday off. I checked emails a couple of times, but otherwise I caught up with friends, books, and movies.
And honestly? It did more than my body good.
While I had planned to catch up on sleep too, my mind had other ideas. It was wide awake, especially when I laid down at night. Not with its usual anxious buzz, but with something else: it felt alive. Curious. Playful. Like it finally had permission to wander into all the possibilities I’d been “too busy” to explore before.
Ideas bubbled up. Not from pressure, but from space. I found myself daydreaming again. Imagining without an agenda. Not hustling to make something happen. Just letting things unfold.
Even if my brain didn’t quiet down, my body finally had a chance to exhale.
I hadn’t realized how much I’d been running on autopilot — until I stopped. And even though nothing dramatic happened, it felt like something inside me got reintroduced to itself.
If you’ve been in go-mode for too long, maybe you know what I mean. That subtle forgetting of what it feels like to just exist without an agenda or to-do list.
I’m not saying all the answers came rushing in. But the questions? They’re back. And suddenly, everything feels a lot more fun.
So here’s to more weekends off. Like most people I know, I’ll be working Mondays through Fridays, and recharging Saturdays and Sundays. What a concept, right?
Excited to be back, with fresh eyes and full batteries.
Let’s get this party (re)started!
