Over the long Memorial Day weekend, I had more fun (and sun) than I’ve had in years. So many memorable moments, good times with nears and dears, and yummy treats.
Emotionally, I’m on Cloud 9. The truth is the weeked was so good I didn’t it to end.
But physically, I feel somewhere between a used tissue and a half-melted popsicle.
Maybe I caught something, or maybe I’m just allergic to all the fun (and sun). Hard to say. Whatever’s going on, it’s not enough to take me out completely, but it is enough to slow me down and make me reconsider my plans.
Most days, I’d listen to my body. I’d cancel everything, crawl back into bed, and let the world spin without me until at least tomorrow. But I really don’t want to miss tonight.
I’m supposed to attend an event tonight, a professional mixer I’m honored to have been invited to. And I really don’t want to miss a chance to mix and mingle with a room of fellow creatives. But I might have to. Time will tell.
I know that pushing through for the sake of appearances is…not always the wisest move. Sometimes strength looks like staying in. Like resting instead of socializing. Like not showing up so I can show up better, later.
So I’ll do my best to rest and see what I feel up to later.
Will I rally? Maybe.
Will I crash? Also maybe.
Will I trust myself either way? That’s the goal.
Because as much as I hate missing out, I’ve learned that pushing myself too hard doesn’t help me or anyone else.
One way or another, I’ll get through this. With grace. Or grit. Or green juice.
Give me strength (to carry on). And if not strength, can I at least get a nap?
Fingers and toes crossed…wishing you a happy, healthy day!
