Peacock ðĶ, yes definitely noisy, if beautiful. They will also decimate a vegetable garden in double quick time. We had a cockeral living a few houses away from us a few years ago. All I'll say is, we were thrilled when it's owners moved away ð
Your neighbourhood is certainly exotic dear, and I'm envious of the humming birds, they're so amazing
Thanks Clint and Mika. He was a judge on The Voice France for some seasons. Originally Mika Penniman, he's now Michael Holbrook. ðŧððēðĶððĶðĶ ððĶĒðĶðĶĐðĶðĶðĶð§ðĨðĪðĢðĶðĶðĶðâ·
Indeed, Interesting!! When you think and see these exotic creatures, you can think "Paradise", although loud. In the Middle East, the peacock is the symbol of the Soul! I like this idea as the feathered intense highly coloured tail manifests itself when in full display!
They are some glorious if silly beasts. At least once a day I have a stand-off in the yard with one of them. We call them all âKevinâ (for some reason) so I tend to negotiate with them out loud: âKevin, I just need to get to my car. Can you mosey around the other way?â So far so good. Iâve only seen one of the neighborâs kids get it after messing with the poor birds too much. Silly kid. Dumb parents. :-p
Clint all sounds great and way better than discord from armed cruisers, fighting humans etc BUT yuppers those exotic peacocks, parrots, Macaws and the rest of the motley crews are LOUD, LOUD, LOUD and in flock can strip a tree/bush/feeder in the blink of an eye. There is a colony(?) of Ring Necked Parakeets not too far from me. Urban legend they are from the original birds that Jimmy Hendrix released after one of his earliest shows in London in the 60's/70's Although they are not a native species to UK and not protected the residents of Chortonville refuse to have them culled or removed. I don't know modern day first world problems ð Cheers DougT ðŦðīðŽð§
Parakeets with urban legends and possible connections to a rock legend? Count me in. Glad the locals have allowed them to carry on. âNativeâ species are more fun with a few interlopers in the mix. Wink, winkâĶnudge, nudge. Cheers, my dears!
Love it, Lee! Iâm sure all the Ryans do too. When I considering moving in, my friend told me all the peacocks were named âKevinâ for some reason. âEven the girls?â âEspecially the girls.â If the jokeâs on me, Iâm happily paying it forward. :-p
There are many canals and waterways where I live with cycle and pedestrian walkways and in breeding season you soon learn to keep clear of the breeding and raising chicks ones ðŪ Cheers DougT
