I recently started following IanOnYouTube, a YouTuber whose channel has gone viral in the last month.
Ian strikes me as a sweet kid. He works at a 7-Eleven, lives with his grandmother in one of SoCalās desert communities, and has been vlogging for over a decade.
With his channelās sudden popularityāgrowing from 50K to over 200K in a matter of weeksāIan is āstruggling with all the YouTube comments.ā
Letās just say I feel his pain and struggles, even with my much smaller audience.
I urge you to watch his video and walk a mile in a creatorās shoes.
The vast majority of the comments I get on Substack and YouTube are positive. But the vocal minority are truly working my last good nerve. Rude dudes and other varieties of asshats seem to be growing in number, and I frankly donāt give a single fuck about them or their bullshit.
Long story short, Iāll be turning comments off this and future posts until further notice. And maybe past ones too.
It may sound trivial to those who havenāt experienced unwelcome criticism and feedback on a daily basis. But as Iām working my way through a lot of personal stuff, I donāt have the energy, patience, or time for O.P.P. (Other Peopleās Pinions).
Yesterday, an entitled Substack subscriber decided to pop off and truly pissed me off. This wasnāt my first run-in with his rude dude, small-dick, whiny bitch energy.
For his subscription, his expectations were beyond ri-dick-u-lous and decidedly disagreeable. Long story short, he got himself banned, canceled, and (partially) refunded.
Againā¦all unnecessary distractions in my day. Iām here to celebrateā¦not babysit grown-ass men with a chip on their shoulder.
Sorry to those whose comments I thoroughly appreciate and enjoy. Iām almost through the ābigā stuff in āProject Lite-Briteā and plan to be back to regularly-scheduled posts very, very soon.
Thank you to all the good guys (and delightful dolls) who subscribe and support. Your kindness and patience are greatly appreciated.
All the best!
