Perhaps that is why Mencken was so pessimistic and dark in his worldview: He had low resistance to his own temptation, and projected that onto others. He could complain about how hideous things around him were, but never seemed to have anything constructive to say. I prefer to focus on those who make lovely things in this world, even as transitory as it might be. Thank you, Clint.
