Enjoy whatever part of the celebration weekend that you wish to do.
As an outsider, I consider that the US has moved away from the principles and ideals of the Founding Fathers. Many of your co-patriots have been indoctrinated. Who in their right mind thinks that children must daily declare and recite an allegiance to a flag? I won't go on with expressing my opinion. I have criticisms of my own and many other nations, too.
Enjoy what is good and comfortable about any and every day, dear.
I made the weekend work for me and looked for the good everywhere I could. Only had a few hiccups, but I ended up singing this song on repeat: https://youtu.be/2trTOe8YuX0?si=2JiviDsNE2dqNvJn Not sure itโs your kind of music, but its message is, I think, right up your alley. Cheers, my dears!
Here in New Mexico, pancakes are part of the celebration. I'm with you, no required feelings. Like you, I was never good with those. The herd, however, can sense that you're not onboard, and you might be edged out. From time to time.
Enjoy the day, amigo. We love you, snarls and all, and we love the ideals of this country, despite its many (and current) failures.
Oh, Clarke, you made me snort my morning soda out my nose with your โsnarls and allโ comment. Thank you for making my day. Iโll try to be more teddy bear than grizzly bear today. Cheers, my dears! ๐คช๐งธ
"To me, healthy patriotism requires seeing the dark and the light. Not pretending our country is flawless. Not insisting itโs irredeemable. Simply loving it enough to tell the truth, even when that truth is problematic."
Thank you, Michael. I appreciate you and your encouragement more than words can say. Your light is bright, my friend. Thank you for sharing it with me and so many others. Hope you had a blessed holiday weekendโฆ.
Well Brian whatever way you celebrate today's 250th birthday I hope you totally enjoy it. Eat, drink and be merry. Cheers DougT ๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ๐ฌ๐ง

I'm glad. Thank you for Jason's video - and yes, I like it and him. It's in accord with principles of Attitudinal Healing.

Clint, I think you have found the KEY:
"To me, healthy patriotism requires seeing the dark and the light. Not pretending our country is flawless. Not insisting itโs irredeemable. Simply loving it enough to tell the truth, even when that truth is problematic."
Fondly, Michael
