I’ve spent the last couple of days mostly horizontal.
Out of the last 48 hours, I’ve logged about 36 of them in bed. At first, I thought I was just dealing with some run-of-the-mill tummy trouble from lunch the other day. But yesterday, a fever showed up, suggesting my body was fighting something a little more ambitious than a grumpy stomach.
Thankfully, that fever finally broke overnight. Progress.
I’m still moving slowly this morning, though. The kind of slow where I sit up in bed and take a moment to appreciate the fact that gravity is once again negotiable. I’m feeling better, but not “jump back into the world” better.
Which is fine. I guess.
I had plans for today. They were good plans, the kind that involve seeing people and leaving the house. But those will have to wait for another day. Right now, the strategy is simple: ease back into eating, keep drinking water, and give my body the rest it is clearly demanding.
The temptation, once I start feeling better, is to declare victory too soon and act like everything’s back to normal. But that’s how I tend to end up back in bed wondering why I didn’t just take one more day to recover properly.
So today is about patience.
A little food.
A lot of fluids.
And probably a few more naps.
Slowly but surely, I’m on the mend.
Keep calm and carry on!
