If you’re like me, you prefer watching video content on your TV. Not on your computer, phone, or tablet. And based on the comments and questions I’ve gotten over the past couple of years, I know many of you share that preference.
Well, today feels like Christmas in January for me (and probably for many of you too) because Team Substack released Substack TV yesterday:
For me, as both a creator and a subscriber to several video-centric Substacks, this new app is a total game changer.
I can now enjoy livestreams, podcasts, and other video content from my favorite Substackers from the comfort of my loveseat, remote in hand, on the big screen.
In other words: No more squinting at my phone or casting to my TV!!!
The app is currently available for both Apple TV and Google TV. And while it’s still technically in “beta,” it already feels like a major upgrade for anyone who actually watches Substack content instead of just reading it.
And the best part? This is a big step toward Substack becoming a truly multimedia platform. Not just a hub for blogs and newsletters, but a full-on media ecosystem powered by independent creators.
Now, independent voices can publish, broadcast, livestream, and connect with their audiences without needing traditional networks, gatekeepers, or even YouTube. (While I love my YouTube channel, the platform definitely comes with its own set of challenges and limitations.)
So yes, more features and platforms are coming. And yes, there will likely be a few technical difficulties and hiccups along the way. That’s the price of progress on the mean streets of the Internet.
But overall, I’m so excited. And I just can’t hide it!
Keep calm and get your app on….
Clint 🌈✌️

P.P.S. Don’t forget to keep your apps and operating systems updated, y’all! 🤓😘
