Iโve been a fan of the Romeo + Juliet soundtrack since the film came out. I think itโs time I gave the film another chance. Baz Luhrman is both one of my favorite and least favorite directors. His ADHD editing style (especially in Moulin Rouge) makes me nuts. I also saw him speak at a conference a few years ago and what a nutjob. :-p Focus on the art, Clint. Not the artists!
I agree about Baz Lurman and I don't think I ever managed to get all the way through Moulin Rouge I was disgusted by it anyway Nicole Kidman was miscast IMO,
Uggg Brian I'm having one of those days here too. I'm hitting brick walls over something that was so simple a couple of years ago gggrrr last ditch attempt tomorrow before I give up and have to splash the cash ๐ I hope your spirit returns overnight! Cheers DougT ๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ๐ฌ๐ง
Sorry thereโs a disturbance in your force too, boo. May the winds of time blow and make things right again. If thereโs anything I can do to help, please reach out. Either way, sending you hugs and good cheer! ๐โ๏ธ
It's ok Brian, it's a dental issue and because I use an anticoagulant medications my dental practice passes certain care onto a specialist dental clinic. Unfortunately the process of referring to the specialist dental practice has vastly changed and I didn't know it was so fuken difficult this year. I'll get around it by hook and crook. ๐ Cheers DougT
Turning dreck into treasure, you are. And your musical choices are so brilliant! Some days, I have to go entirely transcendental. Other days, I forget everything I ever learned about living well, and just suffer inelegantly. Breathe in, breathe out. Repeat. Full attention on just being there. Repeat. Oh, if only I remembered to do that! As I told a good friend who has too many issues all the time, sometimes you have to reason from the effect to the cause. You can't start out by imagining causes. Stay cool!
I giggled when you said, "She preferred to let me figure things out the hard way. But that's a whole 'nother story." My mind converted that to "But that's a whole 'mother story." Mothers are amazing people , for beter or worse, a unique group.
I know those days when the world seems to suck and my life seems to succk and I would like to crawl into my mother's lap and cry (or scream) and my mom has been gone for 16 years now as has any other family member that might piss me off with being nice or judgemental.
One of the things I enjoy about your posts is that you start off with a complaint or description of a lack, etc. and then you end up with all the lessons you have learned, the changes you have or know you need to make, and the sun usually comes out and shines on you! You deserve the sunshine!
Thank you, Michael. My mother was a whole โmother story! Sorry yours is gone too. Mine passed in 2020โฆhard to believe itโs been over five years now. We werenโt exactly on the same page, but I am trying to find the silver linings with our relationship, much like I do with my bad days. We can always choose to look for the good. I do my best to follow Dolly Partonโs lead:
โWhen I meet someone, I look at their eyes and their smile and seek out the good first - it's easy to find when you're looking for it. You let a person shine with their own light and try to connect it to yours. As soon as I say hello, I go right to that light and I don't care who you are! I know we're all pieces of the same thing - I go for that common light because I know it's in all of us.โ

...then I defy you, stars - Romeo+Juliet (1996)

Exactly as Romeo should be, Jesse Bradford said his time spent with Leonardo DiCaprio's crew was the happiest time of life.
Thomas North was probably the one who changed Romeo's last name from Montecchi to Montague after he traveled to Italy with Lord Montague around 1560.

As a non-fan of both Kidman and Luhrmann, Iโm not even sure how I ended up seeing the film. I liked the soundtrack though. :-p

Thanks, Clarke. I try to find some gold in the goop. Edibles work better for me than meditationโฆthere we are then, right? ๐คช
Nothing against meditation though. Itโs definitely in my toolkit too. โWhite light in. Dark smoke out.โ
I appreciate you, dear. ๐๐

Dolly is a phenomen. Thanks for sharing her quote. Fondly, Michael
Youโre welcome, Michael. Sheโs a treasure that one.
