First, a big THANK YOU to all who reached out yesterday—and an extra shout-out to those who showed their support by becoming paid subscribers. You guys ROCK!
While I’m still catching up on comments, emails, and messages, please know how much your thoughtful words mean as so many of us continue wrapping our heads around the election results.
The continued love and support reminds me we’re not alone in this dystopian reality show we seem to be trapped in, cast as unwilling, unpaid extras (and pawns).
For me, the struggle was REAL yesterday. I felt myself moving through all five stages of grief—denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance—more than once.
After making and posting a political montage, I gave myself a timeout and permission to take a nap like I was back in kindergarten. Afterwards, I got back to work. Slowly but surely. Life. Goes. On.
Last night, one of my nearest and dearest—despite some political differences—helped talk me through some of the anger and anxiety coursing through my veins.
(Thank you, boo. I hope our chat helped us find even more common ground. Or at least helped us to hear, love, and respect each other even more.)
Today…I’m getting back to “normal.” Or finding a “new normal.”
That means avoiding political news—for now—to protect my mental health.
To remix Tim Gunn’s catchphrase, I’m planning to “Make Sh(It) Work” by refocusing my energy and time on art, beauty, and creativity that spotlights history, lives, and stories of folks I respect.
And ignoring those I don’t…like the plague.
Let’s do this!

I can understand your feelings Clint. I still can't understand why the majority of Americans voted for that mental defective. Alfred E Neumann would have been a better choice. What really gets up my nose is the fact that he denigerates the armed services, and is now the Commander in Chief again. Calling deceased Military Personnel losers, is absolutely the pits. And he being a draft dodger. He is a cretin.
Not long after I started my first job at age 14 I realized that being an adult did not automatically mean the elevator went to the top floor. As I got older the percentage of adults presenting with malfunctioning elevators seemed to climb. The first time with Trump I pegged it about 30%. The response to Covid moved it to 40. With this election we've crossed the 50% mark, IMO.
