Like all your posts, but the ones that link back to the good old days prior to 2025 are the best. Thanks for sharing those links again once in a while.
Thank you, David! I prefer to the “good ole days” prior to 2020 myself. But maybe it’s because time makes the heart grow fonder. I appreciate you and your kind words. Cheers!
Me three, Uncle Ray! I haven’t felt that energized since high school when I was in jazz band. Going to try out a public drum circle (for peace) tomorrow night. Fingers crossed…and cheers!
I enjoyed the meditative quality of drumming. Producing 2 notes at the same time requires you to open your nasal and head cavities to enhance the natural harmonics of your vocal tone and form you mouth to produce different vowel sounds. It takes practice but you can sing a note and superimpose thirds, fourths and fifths. If the group sings a simple tone together then it is as if there is another choir singing the harmonies, Weird but wonderful. I hope that you enjoy your drumming circle.
I wish I knew more music theory. Even when I was playing regularly, I mostly just faked it. lol As for the drumming circle, I ended up not going last night. A friend dropped by and we ended up talking past the start time. Good thing this particular drum circle happens every week. So next Wednesday! Cheers….
Welcome back to your daily/semi-daily musings -- they are ALWAYS interesting and help me feel connected to our queer-selves. And sometimes they have a standout sentence like the one above!
Dearest Victor, a belated thank you…for your lovely comment AND your lovely note. The one you mailed back in October I think. Guess who just realized the mail place only calls if mail is too big to fit in the mailbox. I’m an idiot. Doh. But I know better know. And owe you a call…and a lunch. Cheers!
I'm so glad you found that!!! I've been in a few drum circles and it IS magical - not 'profound', necessarily but it always "clicks" something intangible. Like being in a "shower of sound".
Vibrations, rhythms, ways to forget checking on oneself constantly. There are so many glorious ways to forget, for a moment, all the noise inside by making noise outside.
Howdy, Michael! The event was part of CreativeMornings here in LA. It was my first time attending, but what a program. Looks like there’s a Chicago chapter…complete with videos of previous events: https://creativemornings.com/cities/CHI
I’ll try to remember to send you the video of the Friday program once it’s posted. Cheers!

Thanks for doing that and discovering the power of it!!!
Happy Birthday J.S. Sargent & Francois Duquesnoy!!
Thanks, Larry! I’m so glad I got to experience that. Going to my first public drum circle tomorrow night, led by the same wonderful “bandleader.”
Rhythm is a fundamental connection. So glad that you experienced it.

Good idea. I went to drumming workshop about 35 years ago. He also taught us harmonic singing in which you sing two notes at the same time.
Oooh, I like the idea of singing too…tonight’s drum circle (my first in public) should be fun and interesting!

So happy for you that drumming happens every week. Talking with friends is rewarding, too.

A belated thank you, Steve! I watched the videos yesterday, but must have gotten distracted. Squirrel friend…that’s me! Cheers
Our bodies feel things our brains can never know.

Exactly, Dennis! You took the words right out of my fingers. :-p Cheers!
So much wisdom here. Thanks for beating the proverbial drum for following one's own deepest rhythms, Clint. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
Awww, shucks…thank you, Keith! Now let’s BANG that BEAT! Cheers! 🌈✌️
Tough to type whilst clutching my drumsticks, but I'm ready, Clint...let's do it! 🥁🦄🥳
Bang that beat, Keith. And when you’re tired, shake that tambourine! 🥁

And another, Alexander Park, guess there would have been some 'herbs' smoked too 😉
Herbs and drumming are a good match. In my limited experience. :-p Cheers!

Indeed, Clarke. It’s good (for me anyone) to get out of my own head. By any means necessary. Hope you and yours are well, dear…cheers!

Thank you, Michael, for sharing a historic dance. Cheers!
Clint, How did the drumbing opportunity come to you? Amazing how if we keep open to change, new things arrive. Fondly, Michae
