Clint, My e-mail volume has definitely increased in rhythm to the increase in my subscriptions both in and out. At some point I got to the place where I realized that some of the newlsetters were not for me, I had signed on early in my arrival, and have also begun to prune. (P.S. I also love prunes: by themselves or in a coffee cake or danish.) For a while I stayed with some out of guilt but realized that they were not about things that mattered to me. Even for those substackers I love and admire, I realize that some of their posts are more or less meaningful to me. So I handle them accordingly. So far I have been able to keep my e-mail empty and dealt with but also have used it as a place to hold pieces I WANT to read but won't get to for a day or two. Ah, such First World Problems! Love hearing your approach to all the posts and communications. I’m getting better at keeping up without getting overwhelmed. Too many years in the corporate grind has left me very, very sensitive sometimes. Time to drop that story…and work on a new one! Cheers, my dears. 🌈✌️
Me, I'm on the opposite end - I've only just started here, and am trying to find who's worth reading! I need people posting about their lives (internal and external), the whole gamut of stuff they're fascinated by, etc etc (which is why I keep checking in on your efforts) - folks seeking to commune, rather than those writing only on one single theme, or endless rageaholic political reportage/agendae.
Still trying first to find any connections at all (if any), and *then* maybe winnow down ...
... also, I am totally stealing 'I love reading; it’s a great way to avoid writing.'(- Tony Kushner) for my own nefarious usage some day ...
Wisdom doesn't come with getting old. It comes from re-emergence and focusing on what aids your further re-emergence, what brings the most benefit. There are many things that bring benefit but I emphasise "the most" for the available time or other personal resources or limitations.

I am totally with you on this, my friend. I have learned which writers get my constant attention, which get occasional views, and which get quickly deleted. (yours get read, every single one) I have to deal with an over emphasis on the left brain, which somehow gets a rush of satisfaction from the message, “you are all done. “☺️
