Today is Find Your Inner Nerd Day, so I’m here (and queer) to celebrate all of our inner nerds. And all our inner and outer freaks, geeks, dorks, weirdos, misfits, and glorious squares, too.
Because who the fuck decided being “cool” or “popular” was the goal anyway?
I say get your freak on. Get your geek on. Embrace the things you love, even when they’re obscure, weird, nerdy, niche, or make everyone else scratch their heads.
Wear that T shirt. Quote that movie. Obsess over the details. Learn way too much about things only a handful of other people care about.
Variety is the spice of life, riiiiiiight? So do whatever makes your little nerd heart happy.
Being a freak or a geek isn’t something to hide. It’s part of what makes us us.
Our quirks, obsessions, passions, and peculiar interests are the things that make us us. And the world could use a lot more people who are unapologetically themselves.
So come on, nerds. Don’t be tardy to the party. Let your geek flag fly!
Keep calm and nerd it out…
