As a polyphasic sleeper, I woke up the first time at 3am, turned a few piles to pack into packed piles, and did something I never, ever thought I’d have to do: I checked the news to see whether World War III had started or not. Luckily, it hadn’t. But just reading some headlines made my blood boil…and my blood pressure spike.
Just another morning in Chump’s United States of Murica hellscape.
Under Chump’s unhinged “leadership,” the line between breaking news and breaking reality show blurs by the day.
But the truth I keep coming back to, despite pundits trying to frame this as something new, is that Chump has always been ignorant and insane. What’s changed are the stakes. As the world watches and the pressure builds, the consequences get scarier. But the chaos at the center of it all? Same circus barker, same insane clown posse.
And while my brain wants to spiral and throw a temper tantrum—if that mfer can do it, why can’t I?!—my body is like, “Sir, we got better shit to do. We have a getaway to get ready for. And we have our blood pressure to get under control.”
So today, I’m going to listen to my body and choose focus over frenzy and action over outrage. And let Mister Rogers give the only kind of salute Chump deserves.

Personally, I’ve got laundry to do, bags to pack, and playlists to make. More than enough to focus on, without letting some bankrupt reality-tv-star-turned-wannabe-dick-tator live rent-free in my head.
The world may be complicated and out of control, but my getaway to do list is simple and straightforward.
