After cussing and discussing with fellow gays and theys, I don’t think it is hyperbolic to say that ghosting has become the national pastime for far too many in the LGBTQ community.
Dating and looking for love in all the wrong places is hard enough without wondering whether all that flirting, texting, planning, and hoping is eventually going to end in…literally nothing.
One minute, you’re having a great conversation with someone who seems interested. Maybe you make plans. Maybe you start thinking, “Hmm. This could actually be fun.”
Then…POOF! Gone.
No goodbye. No explanation.
No “Sorry, I’m just not feeling it.”
This meme pretty much sums up my feelings about the ghosts of “dating” apps past, present, and future:
If we’re being really honest, chances are most of us have been ghosted, ghosted someone else, or both at some point.
Dating is complicated. People change their minds. Chemistry disappears. Someone realizes they are not interested. And more often than not, they just disappear.
I am increasingly convinced that the healthiest response to being ghosted is to accept the silence as the end and keep it moving.
No follow-up texts.
No “Hey, everything okay?”
No digital séances.
No Ouija boards.
No voodoo dolls.
Let the dead rest…in peace or pieces.
There are plenty of living, breathing, communicative people out there who might actually want to meet you. Go out there and find them.
Life is too damn short to chase anyone who’s ghosted you, boo.
Keep calm and keep trying!

Ghosting is the easy way out. Cowardly. Espcially if the ghostor doesn't realize that a pleasant enough gooybye is easy with e-mail, text, social media. No excuses please ghostors. Fondly, Michael
so true! you should consider adapting this into a personal essay since I think a lot of people can relate (and we have yet to publish a piece on this topic at Queer Love Project yet)
