After two days of posting on YouTube again, I dreamed about not having to post on the platform last night. Waking up this morning and realizing it was just a dream, I set a new goal: weaning myself off YouTube and its AdSense nonsense.
YouTube is currently a big part of my monthly income.
But YouTube is an even bigger source of daily stress.
Every time I check my inbox, I brace myself for emails about:
YouTube’s bots falsely accusing me of violating their “Community Guidelines,” or
Yet another bogus copyright claim from a shady music “publisher” abusing YT’s broken Content ID system.
After only two days back, I’m already fighting two copyright claims. Despite reporting these copy fraudsters, YouTube seems less interested in holding these corporate abusers accountable and more interested in punishing independent content creators.
To avoid more drama and trauma, I want to stop relying on YouTube as a main source of income. Doesn’t mean I want to stop posting entirely, but it does mean I’d like to be less invested in what the platform and its bots do next.
If you support this dream—and aren’t already a patron—please consider subscribing to my Substack. It’s the best, most direct way to help me towards this goal.
If you aren’t ready or can’t afford to become a paid subscriber, please consider sharing my posts and videos with nears, dears, and queers.
Every restack, share, and subscribe helps bring me closer to making my “Freedom From YouTube” dream a reality.
Thanks for reading, sharing, and supporting my work. It means a lot to me!
Clint
P.S. Ricky Nelson—circa 1961—was in my dream too. Whatta man! 😍

Very happy am I that I looked at the link to Wikipedia about Dominic Monaghan before questioning whether he is German or not. Indeed, he is more German than Irish or English after having spent most of his formative years there. Surprising. I really liked his performances in
"Hetty Wainthrop." He made a titillating appearance in that, in a shower room. I expect Patricia Routledge was amused but not the least bit interested.
