If you’ve ever sat down to create and suddenly heard a voice whisper, “You’re not good enough,” congratulations—you’ve met a vampire.
In the meta-musical [title of show], there’s a song that most creatives might want to add to their toolbox: “Die Vampire, Die!” It’s a bold, hilarious, heartfelt number that doesn’t just acknowledge the doubts and demons we face—it kicks them to the curb with Broadway flair.
The song isn’t about horror movie creatures. These “vampires” are the soul-suckers of creativity: that voice in your head telling you your ideas are stupid, the friend who says you’re too old to start something new, or the subtle societal pressure to conform and be “normal.” Sound familiar?
What makes this song so powerful to me is its honesty. It may not erase the creative fear or silence the self-doubt forever. Instead, it hands you a megaphone and says, “Out damned spot!” It reminds us that any act of creating is worth defending.
So here’s to all my fellow makers, scribblers, singers, and dancers. Whatever brings you bliss, keep making it happen……DON’T LET THE VAMPIRES WIN!
Make the thing. Say the line. Paint the stroke. Take the photo.
And if those voices come back?
Sing out loud—and proud—”Die Vampire, Die!”
Best wishes for peace and prosperity…

Thanks Clint. "Don't dream it, be it." Tim Curry as Dr Frankenfurter in Rocky Horror. Oddly, as soon as I saw the vampire cartoon, this started playing in my head:
There's a light, Over at the Frankenstein place, There's a light Burning in the fireplace,
There's a light, a light, In the darkness of everybody's life
