I strongly and definitely relate to this but I do not lose sleep letting "new stuff" settle into my brain. I have made many adjustments and re-adjustments in my life, mainly about technology - my first interface with a computer was with an effing big building requiring me to learn how to cut holes in paper tapes or cardboard sheets in languages that it would understand. Now, I have a thin screen, a wifi mouse and keyboard. I do not understand how or what it does. I just does (or doesn't) do what I intend.

I do not bother to learn or use some "new stuff" because my life, income and well being do not depend on it.

Yeah, I had to have a “come to Jesus” talk with myself yesterday about my determination to have the best tech I can afford. And understand it more than necessary. Ego, insecurity, and pride. Bless this mess.

Darling man, you are already good enough. Sensitive, intuitive, artistic souls have an inbuilt message inside that says they are good but not quite good enough. Not feeling good enough comes from inside you, not for other people's judgement.

Accept from yourself that you are already good enough - no one needs to be or can be perfect.

I know, I know…I’m working on it. Why is it so much easier to convince others they’re worthy than ourselves? Why, oh, why, Uncle Ray? Share your wisdom. If it’s any consolation, these tech quandries are healthier versions of the compare/despair cycles I once did. Cheers, love!

For people like you and me, not feeling good enough is inbuilt in the way we see the world and ourselves. Sure, others people, parents, teachers or whomever may have contributed but the fact is that we are the judge, prosecution, defence and jury of the charge that we are not good enough. The truth is that no one is going to perfect so we should not set higher standards for ourselves than we set for other people. We are loving and forgiving of others and we simply need to love, trust, forgive and respect ourselves in a similar way.

Now, I love myself, warts, faults and failings and all. It has sometimes been a discouraging path to tread.

You send me your appreciation of all that I have done in my life. I come back by saying things that indicate that I "should" have been better. My replies are just the remnants of this self-driven judgement that I never achieved perfection.

Let me just say that you are healthier and more balanced than times in the past. You are healing and judging yourself less harshly. I love and value you without reservation.

Thank you, Uncle Ray…for shining that bright light of yours. Sunshine is the best disinfectant, right? Cheers!

I bet you Vogue’d to this on repeat. Didn’t you, Doug? I know I did. Now, strike a pose! 🌈✌️

Doug Thompson's avatar

Yup the sampled rift to Vogue was straining to break through all the time on this clip😎

What a work of art. And the aerial work is lovely too! :-)

He's got a flesh coloured shoulder/neck strapping on, he needs it for those neck twist movements 😲😎

Clint Collide's avatar

Yeah, I wondered what kind of support that gives him. Or protection, maybe, from the rope when he’s spinning? I’m fascinated…and scared of heights. Or more accurately, I’m scared of gravity! :-p

Oh Clint I feel for ya. But at least as kids we used real rotary dial telephone📞. I see YT clips of generation Z+ trying to figure out how to use one😎 As a kid our playground 'walkie talkie' were 2 tin cans joined by a string 😏 oh the simplicity of youth. Cheers DougT 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇬🇧

I loved both rotary phones and tin can “walkie talkies.” I grew up in an interesting time. I had both of those…and a Speak-N-Spell, which was (I think) one of the first computerized toys. Super basic compared to all the tablets the kids have now, but lightning years ahead of what my parents had. And my dad never forgot to remind me when he had to buy new batteries for me. lol Cheers!

Sometime not too many years ago, I discovered that I don't read nonfiction like I used to. Formerly, I'd sprint through the text almost like it was a novel. Or a sauna, that has to be finished somewhat quickly. Now I'm in hot-tub territory. Soaking in a phrase or page at a time. Still skimming sometimes, but not trying to get somewhere. Comparing the two kinds of learning is painful: best not to compare them. Each has its own time, its own way of being. Time moves faster as I go slower. Who thought this up? I want a refund! Or maybe not. Depends on the flavor du jour.

Clint Collide's avatar

Oh, Clarke…you slay me. I sometimes want a refund. Usually right before I spend all I have (and sometimes more) on getting what I want, the way I want it. We are interesting creatures. Aren’t we? I’m asking for a friend. :-p Cheers!
