For the past two years, I’ve explored countless ways of creating and curating. First with original and remixed art and design collaborations. Then with blog posts. Most recently with montages of found photos.
Yet, for some reason, video compilations never really crossed my mind. Despite the fact I love watching them. Maybe I thought they’d be harder or more time-consuming than photomontages. I’m not sure. But I know this: I’m ready to make more now!
Yesterday, I created my first compilation, Fur Real #1 = Cuteness Overload. I had so much fun making it that something finally clicked: Video compilations might be just what I’ve been working towards all along. Or at least a good addition to the mix.
While technically a bit more involved than working with stills, video compilations aren’t necessarily any harder to make than photo montages—at least in theory.
What excites me most is how curated found footage—with or without music added—can "collide" to create something new. I love mixing and remixing “high-brow” and “low-brow.” Even a simple montage of static, found photos gains fresh energy and meaning when sequenced and paired with the right track or transitions.
Adding more found footage to the mix feels like a game-changer.
While researching for photos and videos, I’m always rediscovering historical and pop culture moments I forgot or never knew.
Getting to “meet” new faces and “visit” new places is the most rewarding part of my work. Source material inspires my experiments and fuels my creativity.
So, what’s next? More experiments, more compilations, and hopefully, more “aha” moments along the way. Variety, after all, is the spice of life—and it’s what keeps me and my motley mix grooving and moving.
Thanks for reading!

You have used some short video clips before and I did wonder why you didn't do more. So, I think it is a great idea. Much love.
