Lately, I’ve been so focused on homoerotic photography that I’ve missed the magic of queer art. So today, I’m going to work on a new montage, featuring the work of some of my favorite queer artists, past and present.
“Jerry” by Paul Cadmus is the inspiration behind this. It’s a striking, tender portrait of Cadmus’s then-lover Jared French.
In case you’re not familiar, Cadmus and French—along with Jared’s wife Margaret—formed the artist collective PaJaMa, which took its name from the first two letters of their first names.
As I start curating my new montage, I’m excited to honor the queer pioneers who helped make art history and inspired countless queer artists to not only create new and powerful works but to share them loudly and proudly. 🌈🎨
Thanks for reading!
Clint
P.S. Tails Jekel is a new-to-me queer artist, who’s popular on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. I can see why. Check out Tails’ work.

Thanks for the Tails video. I found it fascinating and an insight into his creativity. I hired an art tutor here in Thailand, once a week, for about 18 minths. He was avery good teacher but concentrated on accurate reproduction and realism. He would ask me "where is it?" when I painted fantasy and sigh. I continued to paint for some time but now find my fantasy novels more satisfying.
Definitely one of the most interesting videos i've ever seen about the process of creating art. The artist is really talented in more than one way. Great painter, but also a great explainer. All of the things that went into his creative process were simply fascinating. Thanks for pointing us to it.
