Darlin', trust me, I know whereof you speak. It's especially difficult when what you are "producing" is in the public eye. You, somehow, are not allowed to 'take a break'. I felt that all through the 80's and 90's working with AIDS and then the homeless. You just can't 'stop' to take a breath. I can remember doing 'rounds' on the fifth floor of the University Hospital, stopping in every room to visit with guys in varying stages of dying - some were friends, some total strangers, some former lovers. Then getting on the elevator and between the fifth and fourth floors having to put myself back into myself so when the doors opened I could go on out there and be with those I had committed myself to BE with. You can do it! Besides really great, intense sex, I would put my roller skates on and whip around the lovely "handicapped accessible" campus of the University of NM campus with Chopin on my "walkman"!!! You know the things that revitalize you - do it - and come back when you're ready. We'll wait!! Well, I will - I get it - you have an audience as well. And sometimes they can't wait or won't. It's OK. It has to be OK!
Oh, Dennis, my creative slump is nothing in the face of some of what you went through during those years. Thank you for your service…and love. I’m sure you provided more comfort and support to your friends, lovers, and strangers than you’ll ever know. May that love and light continue lighting the way for you. The image of you roller-skating has given me LIFE this morning. Thank you for that gift. Cheers!
I am quite well, dear sir... but I have had almost 3 months of post-nasal drip causing a slight cough. It may be an allegy but antihistamines do no more than calm it a little. I have had three mild infections in this time, which have quickly resolved with a course of antibiotics but still leaving the nasopharygeal drip and slight cough. It may be a low-grade infection but I do not wish to take antibiotics unnecessarily. I don't feel ill, just inconvenienced slightly.
3 months?! I’m 2 weeks into my on variation of sinus and sniffles. My coughing is the biggest issue. Folks think I’m sick when I’ve just got a tickle in my throat I can’t quite calm down. Here’s to post-post-nasal-ness. I love this time of the year, but my sinuses do not. Feel better and less inconvenienced, dear Ray!
Glad I’m not the only one. I tend to revisit parts of the book every so often. But decided to do the whole process over…again. Cheaper than therapy. lol
